STEPS TO A CURE

Dear Family, Friends, and Long-Lost Acquaintances,

On February 17, 2002 I will be walking a 26.2-mile marathon for the benefit of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

I am doing this for several reasons: Leukemia is the #1 disease killer of children. Every 12 minutes a child or adult dies from Leukemia or related cancers. I am accomplishing a personal goal to get in better shape. And… I get to go to New Orleans just in time for Mardi Gras!

Through the Society’s Team In Training program, I will have a coach, a training regimen, nutritional advice, and a great group of runners/walkers with a common goal and lots of support. Besides the challenge of training for and walking the 26.2 miles, I am committed to raising $2800.00 to support the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in its battle against these devastating diseases.

I am asking for your help to reach my goal and I hope you will consider the following as you make out your donation:

I need $2,800.00 for this to work- I don’t have it and can’t come close to it on my own.

The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society REALLY DOES use 75 cents of every dollar donated for research, treatments and patient services.

I’ll be walking in honor of a beautiful child named Aaron in the Chesapeake area whose family is hoping for a cure.

Yes, what I’m asking you for is money. Let me do the hard part. I’ll commit to the weekly group walks, the monthly meetings, and the better nutrition. All you need to do is write out a check and send it to me by November 20th, 2001. Whatever you can contribute really does matter…it all adds up! This is, of course, tax deductible and a whole lot cheaper than therapy! ALL CHECKS SHOULD BE MADE OUT TO THE LEUKEMIA AND LYMPHOMA SOCIETY.

As I walk this 26.2 miles you will all be with me in spirit, and your faith will inspire me to walk faster and stronger to the finish line! I appreciate you and our relationship and look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks so much,

Tonya
